These two tools are produced by the East of England Public Health Observatory (erpho) on behalf of the Public Health Observatories in England. The National General Practice Profiles present a range of indicators by GP practice, including information about patient demographics, patient satisfaction, Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) data and secondary care use. The Disease Prevalence estimates have data on coronary heart disease, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hypertension and stroke. The estimates are available for PCTs, lower and upper tier local authorities and GP practices.
Each year, the Public Health Observatories, on behalf of the Department of Health, produce Health Profiles for every Local Authority in England. Designed to help local government and health services make decisions and plans to improve local people's health and reduce health inequalities, the profiles present a set of important health indicators that show how the area compares to the national and regional average. They include information on: mortality rates; smoking related deaths - including deprivation correlation; early deaths from cancer, heart disease and stroke; road injuries and deaths; and excess winter deaths.
