Alzheimer's Society research team

The team coordinates the research programme, liaising with scientists, managing the Quality Research in Dementia (QRD) network and ensuring that dementia research and science is communicated correctly.

Bradford Dementia Group

A multi-disciplinary, multi-professional group, committed to making a difference to policy and practice in dementia care, through excellence in research, education and training.

Cancer, Palliative and End of Life Care (CPELC)

CPELC carry out research to enhance the lives of individuals affected by cancer, other life-limited conditions and those at the end of life.

Centre for Death and Society (CDAS)

The UK's only centre devoted to the study and research of social aspects of death, dying and bereavement.  CDAS acts as a catalyst and facilitator for research, education and training, policy development, media and community awareness.

Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care

Carries out research, teaching and training in palliative care. It has made an important contribution to the understanding of end of life care and helped to inform the recent End of Life Care Strategy.

Fuse: The Centre for Translational Research in Public Health

The Centre for Translational Research in Public Health - a UKCRC Public Health Research Centre of Excellence. Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside universities working together for better and fairer health.

International Observatory on End of Life Care

Undertakes high quality research, clinical studies, evaluation, education, advocacy and consultancy to improve palliative and end of life care for patients and family carers. The Observatory works closely with the local health and social care community in the North West, as well as nationally and internationally.

Map2030

Modelling ageing populations to 2030 study at the London School of Economics and Political Science. This inter-disciplinary group, covering a number of institutions, is investigating the needs and resources of older people to 2030.

Marie Curie Cancer Care

Marie Curie believes that by investing in high-quality palliative and end-of-life care research they can provide immediate and longer-term benefits to people with terminal illnesses.

All their research investment aims to improve end-of-life care for patients, carers and families.

Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool

The Institute has a core commitment to undertake research in the care of the dying. Their major focus is on developing studies that impact directly on patient care, service organisation and delivery and education and training, with a view to influencing future policy.

National Cancer Research Institute

The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) is a UK-wide partnership between the government, charity and industry which promotes co-operation in cancer research among the 21 member organisations for the benefit of patients, the public and the scientific community.

National Cancer Research Institute Grantsmanship Gateway

The NCRI Survivorship After Cancer and End of Life Care Research Grantsmanship Gateway aims to assist early career researchers in the survivorship after cancer and end of life care fields by signposting towards expert advice on grant application development.

The National Council for Palliative Care

The National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) is the umbrella organisation for all those who are involved in providing, commissioning and using palliative care and hospice services in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

OMEGA - The National Association for End of Life Care

Aims to promote excellence in care, for people nearing the end of their lives. The Association developed from and is closely aligned with the work of the National Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Centre, but has a broader remit in end of life care, supporting carers, raising awareness and sharing information about a range of end of life issues and bringing people together to share ideas and develop best practice.

Palliative Care Research Society

Dedicated to promoting research into all aspects of palliative care and to facilitating its dissemination. Membership of the society is open to any individual or organisation who is interested in furthering the society's aims.

Social Policy Research Unit: University of York

The Social Policy Research Unit has an international reputation for excellence in research in social policy, especially health and social care, poverty, welfare and social work.

Sue Ryder Care Centre for the Study of Supportive, Palliative and End of Life Care

The Centre has a special collaborative relationship with the charity Sue Ryder Care. The Centre is led by Professor Jane Seymour and its work makes a vital contribution to the wider research group of which it is a part.

UK end of life care Research Interest Group

The UK end of life care Research Interest Group is made up of health research funders, care providers and related charities who recognise the need for research to underpin the care of people at the end of life. They aim to promote high quality research in end of life care.

The King's Fund

The King’s Fund is working with Marie Curie Cancer Care to evaluate its Delivering Choice Programme. The programme aims to develop services that help patients to make free and informed choices about where they're treated and where they wish to die.

University of Cambridge: Cancer, Genetics and Palliative Care Group

Headed by Dr Fiona Walter and Dr Stephen Barclay, the group focuses on developing and evaluating primary care based interventions to improve health, the progress of long term conditions and care at the end of life.
