End of Life Care Profiles

This is historic archive only.

About the profiles

The End of Life Care Profiles present indicators by Local Authority and Primary Care Trust (PCT) to help commissioners and providers understand the end of life care needs of their populations.

They are presented in table, chart and map format using the InstantAtlas mapping tool. They can be used by anyone who wishes to compare the position of their PCT or Local Authority with others in England and to track that position over time.

The PCT Profiles and Local Authority Profiles 2012 are also available to download in PDF format - one for each PCT and top tier Local Authority in England.

Forthcoming profiles

Later in the year we will launch a set of profiles for Acute Hospital Trusts. We will continue to improve all profiles over time and would appreciate your feedback on how we can do this in a way that helps you.

Background

The South West Public Health Observatory, as national lead public health observatory for end of life care, was commissioned by the National End of Life Care Intelligence Network to develop a set of indicators to help identify and understand variation in end of life care across England. This resulted in the development of the End of Life Care Profiles. The profiles will be updated and added to over time.
